Kyneton Ridge Shiraz Wins Gold (again)

Aug 29, 2023

For the third year in a row, the Kyneton Ridge Heathcote Shiraz has been awarded gold. We were advised last week that our Heathcote Shiraz 2022 topped the 2022 Shiraz class at the Sydney Royal Wine Show. One of only 3 wines were awarded gold medals. As you can image we were very excited. This follows the gold medal awarded to the current release 2021 Heathcote Shiraz at the Victorian Wine Show last year and the gold medal awarded to the 2020 Heathcote Shiraz by Winestate Magazine in 2021.

The fruit for all of these wines is sourced from the same vineyard in Heathcote, a vineyard that we know very well having sourced high quality fruit from them for many years. The wine is made with minimum intervention and matured in 25% new French and American oak. This formulae allows the quality fruit to shine but not dominate, while encouraging complexity and spice to develop over time.

In the vineyard, pruning is complete and the vineyards have been prepared for the start of the 2024 vintage growing season. After a cool winter with good rain, we are seeing the first signs of the impending spring. The vines are waking up with wooly buds now popping out over the vineyard. The cycle begins again!

As a result of our strongest sales yet of our Skipping Rabbit Pinot Noir we have sold out early this year. The 2023 vintage of Skip is safely in barrel and looking good, however we will give it the time it needs to develop into the wine you have appreciated. It will be bottled in late January and should be available soon after.

We would like to thank you all for your continued support of Kyneton Ridge.
