Our gold medal winning 2022 Shiraz is now available. The 2022 Shiraz was awarded a gold medal at the prestigious Sydney Royal Wine Show in 2023. It was the equal top scoring wine in its 2022 Shiraz class at the show.
The award extends the run of gold medals for our Shiraz to include every vintage since we took over the Estate for the 2020 vintage. The 2020 Shiraz was awarded gold status at 97 points by WInestate Magazine in 2021 while the 2021 Shiraz was awarded a gold medal at the Victorian Wine Show in 2022.
The fruit was sourced from a meticulously managed vineyard in the Colbinabbin area of the Heathcote region, processed and bottled at Kyneton Ridge winery in the Macedon Ranges under the supervision of our winemaker, Patrick. Matured in 25% new French oak together with 5% Californian oak.
The aroma is lifted and vibrant, with notes of vanilla infused stewed plums. Rich black forest/dark cherry flavours provide intensity while the balanced acid and tannin structure leads to a brightness on the palate.
The 2022 Shiraz is available at our cellar door, through our online store or at good venues and bottle shops across the Macedon Region.
PS. This week we completed the bottling of most of our 2023 vintage red wines. Watch this space for the release of our 2023 Skipping Rabbit Pinot Noir. It is shaping up to be one of our best.
